I'm not trying to be an ass, but from what I've been reading, she's been making plenty of press appearances, but not much is happening. Apparently the White House is still waiting on a formal request from her offices detailing the amount of national intervention needed. I'm just pissed more isn't being done.

The most anger though, is not directed at the politicians, but these snipers shooting at the humvee evacuation convoys, and the helicopters. All relief efforts are being put on hold due to a few stupid individuals, meanwhile we keep hearing about people dying. Quit trying to be ghetto G.I. Joe, calm the fuck down, and let somebody's grandma get some fucking medical care.

he would have calculated how many guardsmen needed, gallons of water, fuel, food etc, per person in his head
before he even made one appearance on the TV...probably would have a PLAN of some kind BEFORE this happened

but LA is stuck with Blanco who basicaly has no skills other than talking, which she apparently can't do well under real pressure now.

to be honest I think Blanco is just a face, it would be a nightmare to be gov. in a time like this, however a PLAN should have been in effect as a worst case scenario just like the PLAN that most cities have (or are supposed to have) in case of terrorist attacks.

New Orleans will be rebuilt, and it will be better planned, but it's going to be an awesome engineering marvel.

The 9/11 rescue operations don't even compare to what's going on here. We've got thousands upon thousands of people in desparate situations over many many square miles, no power, little communications if any.

9/11 had about 1 square mile give or take to deal with.

I agree that Bush and his administration should have begun putting something together Sunday when the Louisiana/Mississippi Gulf Coast was 12 hours away from a direct hit by a 175mph hurricane.

Again, I'm not saying I know everything about how the ball was dropped. I don't believe anyone really does at this point. But the ball has been dropped somewhere between Blanco and Bush.

I think it's natural to be pissed, as none of us have any answers to what's going on.

I will commend the Red Cross. They're doing a way better job at helping than the government is doing right now.

Overall though, I think the best thing to come out of this is people helping each other. I know I'm opening my home up, and know many other people doing the same. I guess America does still have an inkling of humanity...
